How to stop a Dog from digging Holes
Dog Articles and Personal Stuff

Every Dog Breed has his own character. Some Dogs love digging naturally like Terriërs but digging could also be a sign of separation anxiety and a desire to escape.
Dogs often dig when they become bored from a lack of physical and mental stimulation. You have to keep your Dog occupied. Always give them something to play and entertain them with other activities. Try to spend more time with your Doggie. Interesting toys, tasty, funny things to chew on and more exercise are very important to have a happy and healthy Dog.
Keep in mind that punishing your Dog for his actions is not the solution. This will only teach the Dog not to dig in your presence. They often start digging when your are not around.
For Dogs who are digging just to keep cool on a hot day, there is one simple solution: Provide cold water and shade.
If you have done all these things and he does not stop digging, try to leave the hole open but place some of his poop in the hole. Do the same for all holes. Dogs will not dig where they pooped, so they stop digging. Dogs hate the smell of their own feces, and will never dig again (some people use chili powder, paprika powder or cayenne pepper; it makes his nose itch and is very uncomfortable for the Dog).
It’s possible that your Doggie simply finds a new place to dig and all the things mentioned won’t work. It may be easier then to just let him dig, but at a place you accept. You could give him his own special digging place, and teach your Dog to dig only there. You can bury toys and fun stuff for your Doggie or pup to uncover. When he digs it up, praise him. Do this each day until he knows what you want. If he starts to dig in another area, take him directly to his special digging place.
Keep in mind that your Doggie is not trying to make you mad. Dogs just do what comes naturally, or what helps them feel better. Don’t punish but teach him.
