Dog Tick

Ticks and Dogs: Not a Healthy combination. Ticks are little insects, usually black or brown and about 1/4-inch in length. They can be very dangerous for your Dog's health. The Tick buries his head under the skin and starts sucking blood. It will grow bigger and bigger: a Tick feeds off the blood of your dog.

Ticks can transmit diseases. Some of these carry Lyme Disease. It's necessary to check with your local veterinarian to be sure everything is fine after removal of the Tick.

Check your Dog for Ticks every day. Check for small bumps on his skin. Tick Season is Spring, Summer and Fall.

Dangerous Tick Areas:

Tall grasses and trees. Also found in bushy, wooded and bracken areas.

Where to find on your Doggie:

Around the head, ears, legs and paws.

Remove a Tick:

Wear rubber or surgical gloves. Remove the Tick using tweezers and pull it away from the Dog's body. Pull off all of the Tick including the head. Twist it anti clockwise. Ticks bury in clockwise. The head can stay attached and grow back. Be sure it's completely removed. Wash your doggies skin with anti bacterial soap.

Kill the Tick immediately after removal. You can't simply kill it by flushing it down the toilet or by throwing it away. Use a jar with alcohol to destroy the Tick.

Tick Protection:

Frontline gives your Doggie a complete Tick Protection. Frontline kills all stages of 4 major ticks including those that may transmit Lyme Disease. You Doggie should be 8 weeks or older when using Frontline.
